TOLEDO, Ohio — Flag City Honor Flight announced Wednesday that it will take four trips to Washington, D.C. in 2025.
Flights are scheduled for April 1, June 3, Sept. 9 and Oct. 14.
“Exciting changes are coming in 2025 to enhance the Flag City Honor Flight experience. We remain deeply grateful to our community partners, volunteers, and donors who make these flights possible,” Steve Schult, FCHF president said.
“Our board works tirelessly year-round to make these flights a reality. This year, we are proud to host four flights, honoring hundreds of Veterans who will join us on this unforgettable journey,” Allison Quinlan, flight director for FCHF said.
Since returning in 2023 following a two-year COVID-19 shutdown, Honor Flight has been able to fly four missions in a calendar year. Since the nonprofit started in 2010, it has flown over 2000 veterans to D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor. Highlights include the World War II and Korean War memorials, the Vietnam Wall and Arlington National Cemetery.
One change in 2025 is flying directly into Washington, D.C. at Reagan National Airport. In most years, FCHF has flown into Baltimore instead because it was less expensive.
“The reason for the change is we used to fly into Baltimore and we had a police escort to DC,” Schult said. “After COVID, that went away so our bus trip kept getting longer and longer, so we feel that gives us an extra two and a half hours to spend in D.C. which will provide a lot of opportunity to have a better experience for our veterans to have that extra two and a half hours to see a few extra things while we’re there.”
The Navy and Air Force memorials are likely destinations with the extra time.
