SAN MARCOS, Texas — A man has been sentenced for a September 2021 stabbing that happened during a bar fight in San Marcos, at Nephew’s, located on The Square.
Christopher Eliseo Flores Jr. was sentenced to 10 years’ probation after pleading “no contest” to assault with a deadly weapon. Flores is also required to serve 180 days in county jail, and three months in an in-patient rehab facility before he can serve his probation.
According to prosecutors, Flores is a confirmed member of the Mexican Mafia prison gang and he stabbed the victim multiple times, causing permanent nerve damage and a lacerated liver. The victim, who is not affiliated with a gang, was “enjoying the evening with friends” before the fight, prosecutors said.
Flores had previously served two prison sentences for the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and engaging in organized criminal activity. He also served jail time for assault causing bodily injury to a family member, a misdemeanor.
The victim testified that he feared retaliation from Flores should he be granted probation. He also told the court the incident was traumatic and that he suffers from frequent nightmares, PTSD and paranoia. The victim added that he still suffers significant pain from his injuries almost four years after the assault.
Flores was sentenced to deferred adjudication, which results in the case being dismissed if he completes the probation.
