A 28-year-old straphanger was slashed across his stomach in Queens early Thursday when he refused to hand over money to two men looking to rob him, police said.
The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition.
The attackers, one of whom stole $300 from the victim after his accomplice slashed him, fled the scene and are being sought.
The incident happened about 5 a.m. on the Manhattan-bound platform at the 90th St.-Elmhurst Ave. station.
Police said the victim was waiting for the No. 7 train when two men approached him and demanded his money. He refused to hand it over, police said, and was then slashed and robbed.
Subway crime in the city is actually down 27% this year. Included in the drop is a 43% decrease in robberies, with 48 so far this year through Sunday, compared to 84 at the same time last year.
