BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WSMV/Gray News) – Police in Tennessee launched an investigation after a neighbor reportedly shot a man who was allegedly stabbing a woman.
The Brentwood Police Department said they received a 911 call on Wednesday about a stabbing on Lost Hollow Drive at about 1:17 p.m.
The woman was stabbed multiple times during the altercation that started in a Lost Hollow Drive residence, police said. It then moved to the yard and eventually into the street before a neighbor intervened.
The neighbor, who was armed with a handgun, reportedly confronted the suspect. Police said the neighbor tried to physically intervene while the man was actively stabbing the woman, but he was unable to stop him.
The neighbor then reportedly shot the suspect multiple times.
The following day, authorities identified the suspect and announced that he died from his injuries.
This incident was witnessed by several other neighbors, police said.
After police, firefighters and paramedics arrived to the scene, both the suspect and the woman were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The female victim is expected to survive.
At this time, no charges have been filed, but the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
