Chris Del Conte was given the prestigious “Austinite of the Year Award” from the Austin Chamber of Commerce.

AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas at Austin Athletic Director Chris Del Conte was given the prestigious “Austinite of the Year Award” from the Austin Chamber of Commerce on Thursday.

The Austinite of the Year Award was created in 1984 to recognize leaders in Austin who make the city a better place.

Some of Del Conte’s accomplishments include the renovation of DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, the construction of the Moody Center and new training facilities for multiple sports programs- including a new football training facility that’s currently under construction.

In accepting the award, Del Conte said he firmly believes Austin is the “best city in the country” and expressed his appreciation for the role the university and its teams play in the community.
