Meanwhile, shoppers on all social media platforms have been rushing out to bag the viral chocolate treat to provide their own reviews. Waitrose also asked shoppers to share their thoughts on their treat on Instagram recently.

The supermarket captioned its post: “The VIRAL Chocolate Croissant egg is here! Have you tried it yet? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!”

Someone else remarked: “It is absolutely delicious!!!!” While another chocolate fan added: “I need Easter to come early!!”

It’s worth mentioning that the pastry-shaped treat has also received a perfect five star rating on the Waitrose website, as shoppers who have been lucky to nab it have praised its “divine” taste that they want “in bar form”.

One five-star review read: “Quite simply this is the best chocolate I have ever tasted. My wife agrees, my best friend agreed, my MIL and my mother agreed, my kids too… honestly! Please make this an all year round bar Waitrose!”

A similar review read: “Bought in store and it’s divine, buttery chocolate that’s not too sweet. 11/10! Put this in bar form please!”

Although there are no negative reviews as of yet, it is worth mentioning that the price-tag has been met with scepticism from some shoppers. On Waitrose’s Instagram post, one shopper said: “Not for £15.”

If you want to get your hands on the viral No.1 Chocolate Croissant Easter Egg, you can buy it online here or in store.

And it’s not the only lavish looking treat Waitrose has launched for Easter, as the supermarket has brought back its popular £17 No.1 The Cracking Pistachio Egg (320g). Described as “better than ever”, this treat boasts a creamy chocolate blonde shell that houses a pistachio flavoured egg.

There’s also a selection of uniquely shaped flat eggs on sale for Easter this year. This includes a Blonde Chocolate & Biscuit, Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate & Nut flavours, all which come with a £12 price-tag.

If you’re looking for similarly unique shaped treats for Easter, then Hotel Chocolat’s Extra-Thick Easter Eggs are proven “popular” online. Costing £34.95, these extravagant thick chocolate eggs aren’t hollow, but are instead packed with a selection of truffles, pralines and caramels.

Meanwhile, M&S is also known for its lavish selection of chocolate eggs. Over at Ocado, the retailer has a new geometric shaped egg that has been packed with eight Marc De Champagne Truffles for £12.
