WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – When a federal judge blocked the Trump administration and DOGE from their mass firing spree, that resulted in thousands of layoffs, hundreds of protests and dozens of lawsuits.
“It’s been horrible, there’s been little to no communication with us.”
USAID employees speaking outside the agency. Their emails and key cards were quickly deactivated with DOGE cutting thousands of federal jobs with less than 48 hours notice.
“Its devastating. All the pictures of the amazing humanitarian work that we’ve been doing for decades is no longer on the wall. It’s like our identity has been stripped.”
A series of emails to dozens of other federal agencies, in the last two weeks threaten the same fate . Senator Peter Welch of Vermont is one of the lawmakers weighing if DOGE’s efforts to cut federal spending is helpful or harmful.
“I am absolutely in favor of doing a careful audit of the Pentagon or an agriculture program. We should be doing everything we can to make sure tax-payer dollars are well spent. What DOGE is doing is firing people first and then coming up with a plan after.”
Senator Peter Welch of Vermont also said – DOGE’s method’s are unethical. He pointed to DOGE’s recent request to access FEMA applicants personal information
“I think it’s totally unacceptable to have private information.. and not in the hands of this unelected entity .”
President Donald Trump reiterated his full support to DOGE, even posting to X that he wants Elon musk to be more aggressive.
During a Wednesday cabinet meeting, billionaire Elon Musk said, “The overall goal for DOGE is to address the enormous deficit.”
A federal judge has since called DOGE’s methods unlawful, adding that they had no right to order mass firings. This is leaving those who were already fired in limbo with many of them now filing lawsuits of their own.
Mass firings continue across the federal government including the National Weather Service.
