HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF/Gray News) – Crews are battling massive wildfires across the Carolinas.

A wildfire in Carolina Forest, South Carolina, has continued to increase and size and prompted more evacuations overnight into Sunday morning.

Nearby neighborhoods including Walkers Woods, Avalon, Indigo Bay, The Farm, Spring Lake, Waterford and Summerlyn were all asked to evacuate.

Data from the South Carolina Forestry Commission shows that the Caroline Forest wildfire is about 1,200 acres in size and 0% contained as of Sunday morning. Saturday night, it was around 600 acres.

Horry County Fire Rescue said in a statement overnight that no injuries have been reported from the wildfire, and no buildings have been destroyed.

The state of South Carolina sent planes to the area to drop water over the Carolina Forest wildfires.

In North Carolina, near Tryon and Saluda, a brush fire caused by a power line that fell along US Highway 176 Saturday afternoon spread quickly up a nearby mountain, according to Saluda Fire and Rescue.

By 11:30 p.m., the fire had grown to 400 acres and was 0% contained.

The fire threat continues in the Carolinas, including near Wilmington, North Carolina, and Charleston and Columbia, South Carolina, according to the National Weather Service.
