Texas rapper G$ Lil Ronnie and his 5-year-old daughter were fatally shot Monday in a vicious daytime attack at a car wash outside Fort Worth.
Lil Ronnie, whose legal name was Ronnie Smith, and his daughter R’Mani were gunned down by two men in the city’s southeast suburb of Forest Hill, local NBC affiliate KXAS reported.
The suspects remained on the run Tuesday. Though neither of the gunmen has been publicly identified, cops said they knew the name of one man and issued a warrant for his arrest on a murder charge.
Surveillance video of the attack circulating on social media shows two men apparently holding guns and shooting at a parked vehicle at the car wash. The video then shows a man, identified as Lil Ronnie, sprinting away from the vehicle and across the parking lot, apparently to avoid gunfire.
However, the fleeing Lil Ronnie eventually finds himself trapped in a fenced-in corner with gunmen on either side of him, and the video shows him collapsing to the ground.
Cops responded to the car wash just before 11 a.m. Monday, but both Lil Ronnie and his daughter were pronounced dead at the scene, Forest Hill police said. The suspects had fled the area by the time officers arrived.
Lil Ronnie, who was 30 years old, was best known for his 2018 single “Hoodfame Killuminati” with fellow rapper Go Yayo. His most recent Instagram post was from Valentine’s Day at his daughter’s school, where he attended a “Donuts with Daddy” celebration.
