Austin Energy reports about 1,400 customers are currently without power in the area.

AUSTIN, Texas — Crews are responding to a brush fire that sparked on Tuesday afternoon in northeast Austin.

The fire was reported around 2:30 p.m. on Blue Goose Road near the Austin Community Landfill.

Officials said the windy conditions made putting out the fire “difficult,” but they are now working to put out hot spots.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but officials confirmed no injuries and no evacuations.

Meanwhile, Austin Energy reports about 1,400 customers are currently without power in the area as high wind gusts of 40 mph to 50 mph have been recorded across Central Texas.

While the fire has not caused issues to nearby Bluebonnet Trail Elementary, Manor ISD said the district has canceled after-school activities due to power outages at the campus.

The extreme fire danger led to a Red Flag Warning being issued for most of Central Texas until 9 p.m. Tuesday.
