AUSTIN, Texas — A teenager was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a shooting outside Akins High School in South Austin on Tuesday.
According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting near a bus stop in the 10700 block of S. First St. around 2:22 p.m.
Officers arriving on the scene found a victim with a gunshot wound, APD said.
Austin-Travis County EMS medics took a teenager to a local trauma facility with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.
Police located and detained a person nearby.
APD said the investigation is ongoing and no other information is available at this time.
