Several wildfires sparked across Central Texas on Tuesday as strong winds and low humidity caused hazardous fire risk.

AUSTIN, Texas — Several wildfires sparked across Central Texas on Tuesday as strong winds and low humidity caused dangerous fire risk.

A Red Flag Warning that was in effect until 9 p.m. was allowed to expire as the fire risk lowers overnight.

As of 9 p.m. Tuesday, crews were still dealing with at least three wildfires in our area, including the Klett fire near Johnson City in Blanco County, the Onion Creek fire between Buda and Kyle in Hays County and the Tree Line fire in southeast Williamson County.

Klett fire

The Blanco County Sheriff’s Office reported the large fire near Klett Ranch Road around 4 p.m. before crews were able to stop the fire’s progress.

As of 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Texas A&M Forest Service reported the fire was about 126 acres and 75% contained as crews made good progress in building a containment line around the perimeter.

Onion Creek fire 

Crews are working multiple fires in the area between Sage Hill at FM 150 West in Kyle and Ruby Ranch Rd and FM 967 near Buda.

Officials said the fires were confined within the Onion Creek area and no structures were in danger. Evacuations were lifted around 7:50 p.m.

As of 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, the fire was 80 acres and 20% contained.

Earlier in Hays County on Tuesday, a large fire in Kyle near Engelke Road led to evacuation notices being temporarily issued.

Tree Line fire 

Crews are also working to contain a wildfire in southeast Williamson County on Tuesday.

As of 9 p.m., the Tree Line fire was 4 acres and 98% contained, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. The fire was burning southeast of Taylor off CR 480, south of CR 479.

Blue Goose Road fire 

Smaller brush fires also popped up on Tuesday. A fire burned land near in northeast Austin Blue Goose Road.

Austin fire crews acted fast to keep that fire from getting out of control.

The fire burned about 10 acres and crews had to battle it on both sides of the road.
