An employee was killed Tuesday in a workplace shooting at a USPS facility in Washington state.

The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. local time at the USPS Processing and Distribution Center in Tukwila, a southern suburb of Seattle.

Tukwila Police who responded to the scene found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics who arrived tried life-saving measures but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect fled the scene and has not been found, but police believe the shooter knew the victim. The circumstances that led to the shooting are still unknown, but investigators believe there was an altercation between the two.

No other suspect information or description was released.

The Tukwila Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating the incident. The Postal Inspection Service is also investigating.

According to KIRO 7 News, Tukwila police went to a reported self-inflicted shooting in south Seattle later Tuesday night, but it’s unclear if the two scenes are related. That person, a 33-year-old man, is in critical condition at the hospital.

The incident comes roughly three months after workplace dispute led to a shooting at a Texas USPS distribution facility that left one worker dead.
