Bodybuilder Jodi Vance had been groaning and vomiting the morning before she died last week, according to the 911 call placed by her partner.

Vance’s wife told an emergency dispatcher that the 20-year-old had been “throwing up all morning” and was “passed out in bed,” per the audio obtained by TMZ.

“She won’t wake up and won’t respond to us,” she said.

The two had been staying at the Sonesta Columbus Downtown hotel during the Arnold Sports Festival in Ohio when Vance lost her life last Thursday. The dispatcher told Vance’s wife that help was on the way, but it came too late to save the young athlete.

Vance’s family said she had suffered a heart attack brought on by severe dehydration.

In addition to her bodybuilding role, Vance was a coach and a brand specialist for Better Bodies and Gasp, according to her Instagram profile. She was not competing at the festival but had come to support the athletes she was mentoring.

Her health had been raising red flags for family and loved ones for some time before her death, her trainer, Justin Mihaly, said in an Instagram reel over the weekend, with her family’s blessing. He said Vance had “made a significant error that should not be taken lightly” by habitually taking “extremely hazardous substances” in her quest for the perfect physique.

While final autopsy results were not yet public on Wednesday, Mihaly said preliminary findings indicated Vance may have been on substances unbeknownst to him that were not part of the fitness plan they’d mapped out for her. He said that as more details become available, he’d be sharing “more advocacy and action around this.”
