PORT ARTHUR, Texas (KFDM) – At least 60 people were taken to hospitals after a crash involving buses used to transport plant workers in Texas.
Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso says two charter buses with Hotard Coaches collided at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 73 East in Port Arthur. A third charter bus ran off the road.
At least 60 people were taken to hospitals, with five of them in critical condition.
The buses were being used to take workers home from a plant in the area. Officials did not specify which plant the buses were coming from.
Port Arthur, which is on the Gulf Coast, is home to oil refineries and chemical plants.
Investigators are working to figure out what caused the crash. Hotard says it is cooperating with the investigation and has started an “internal review of the incident.”
