MCDOWELL COUNTY, W.Va. – Residents in McDowell County are still recovering after severe flooding hit the area last month.
WVVA is told residents are still in need of cleaning supplies as people continue to clean up their properties.
Bobby Bowman, the emergency management director for McDowell County says supplies needed include shovels, push brooms and disinfectant cleaners.
“We’re really looking for some dehumidifiers, box fans, squeegees, more shovels, push brooms, water hoses, bags of lime, pine sol. Any type of cleaning supplies or disinfectant wipes that we can give to people,” said Bowman.
Bowman says the county is no longer in need of bottled water but says other donations can be made to the Welch Armory for residents in need to pick up.
Those wishing to donate supplies can call 888-929-4966 to arrange for a drop off at the armory. Residents can also use that number for help if needed.
Bowman says the county is also looking for volunteers to help clean up homes that were damaged due to flooding.
