A former South Jersey cop has confessed to hacking into the social media accounts of multiple women and then publicly posting and distributing their nude photos online, officials announced.
Ayron Taylor was just a rookie officer with the Mount Laurel Police Department when he was arrested on Oct. 21, 2022, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. It came after a weeks-long investigation, launched in September 2022, after a woman told authorities in Evesham Township both her Snapchat and Facebook accounts had been hacked.
As a result, the infiltrator managed to gain access to her nude photos and then distributed them to her Snapchat contacts and Facebook friends, before plastering them on her Facebook page as well, police said.
Amid the investigation, another 18 women came forward with similar allegations about 25-year-old Taylor. Investigators eventually determined the ex-cop targeted student emails through Rowan College of Burlington County and that he illegally accessed around 5,000 such accounts.
Earlier this week, Taylor pleaded guilty to computer theft and official misconduct Monday in Superior Court in Mount Holly, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office announced Thursday. It came as part of an agreement with prosecutors, under which Taylor faces up to 12 years behind bars.
Taylor, who graduated the police academy in October 2021, resigned after the Mount Laurel Police Department suspended him with intent to terminate following his arrest.
