OAK HILL, W. Va. -On Saturday, Oak Hill welcomed a new business to Main St. When owner Tiffany Willis, met a local glass blower, Joshua Bailey, she found inspiration for her store, Mountain State Masterpieces.
Willis hopes this new store will fill a gap in the town’s commercial offerings and connect local artists to new audiences.
Tiffany Willis, owner, Mountain State Masterpieces: “I think it just helps with our tourists and bringing in additional people to the town of Oak Hill. Oak Hill doesn’t really have any stores like this. I know Fayetteville has quite a few but this helps bring some of that to the Oak Hill community.”
The store currently features six different West Virginia artisans, with space for more, and sells everything from jewelry to metalworking and, of course, the glass art made by Bailey’s Baubles Hot Glass, which operates a studio at the back of the store.
Bailey, a co-owner and glass blower for Bailey’s Baubles Hot Glass, says it’s a “real luxury” to have the opportunity to sell his art here and hopes this will bring a boost in revenue, not just for him but for other artists in the Oak Hill area.
“I would really love to see a huge growth in stuff of this sort because I know so many people that have that seed of art but not the opportunity or the outlet. You know, there’s lots of lovely woodworkers, and illustrators, and… all sorts of painters, and people who draw, and do ceramics, I mean having an opportunity like this is just the first step. I’d really like to see it be more and more and more,” says Bailey.
Willis says you can find more information about Mountain State Masterpieces on its Facebook page. Its address is 1113B Main St. E. Oak Hill.
If you would like to schedule a glass blowing class at Bailey’s Baubles Hot Glass, Bailey says you can email [email protected] give them a call at 304-731-1122.
