Open house tours return to local maple syrup producer

HINTON, W. Va. -On Saturday, people got the chance to get outside, see some nature and sample some of the sweet treats to be found there, as a tour of a local maple producer returned. Moonstruck Maple participates in “Mountain State Maple Days” four times a year, with Saturday bringing the third day of the celebration.

They say they’ve been busy, with around sixty people stopping by their family-operated “sugar house.” There, people got to see how maple syrup goes from tree to table and even sample some of their wares for themselves.

“We walk them through how we gather the maple syrups from the sap of the trees and then we filter it, boil it down into his maple syrup…” says Alisha Segars, an owner and manager of Moonstruck Maple, “…It’s such a natural product that people are really astounded by. It’s just straight from the trees, and then you just add a lot of heat, and then you have maple syrup.”

If you missed this tour, you’ll have one more chance before Maple Days ends for the year. They will be holding their next open house next Saturday, March 15th.

You can find out more information about Moonstruck Maple on their website and social media pages.
