Crews are working to repair the break but say the outage could last six to eight hours.

BLANCO, Texas — Residents in the city of Blanco are without water on Monday because of a water main break.

The break happened around 1:30 p.m., according to the city. Crews are working to repair the break but say the outage could last six to eight hours.

“We appreciate your patience during this outage,” the city said.

No other details were provided about the cause of the break.

Over the past couple of years, the city has grappled with multiple water issues. In 2023, Blanco lost tens of thousands of gallons of water due to old pipes. In February of last year, a major leak resulted in the city temporarily moving to Stage 6 water restrictions.

The problems residents saw in the past stemmed from a break in a pipe coming from the city’s water supplier, Texas Water Company (TWC). At the time, TWC was struggling to meet demand in the area, so the city and the company came to a formal agreement to ensure Blanco gets the water it needs for the population.

In December 2024, the city announced major improvements to its water infrastructure along with a new 25-year agreement with TWC.

The city said this agreement with the TWC secures the infrastructure necessary to deliver up to 540,000 gallons per day.

The city of Blanco also said it has completed renovation of the Water Treatment Plant, improved water usage accountability through new electronic water meters and a cloud-based portal where customers can check their usage and pay bills online, and secured funding to replace several of the city’s most outdated or in-need water lines.
