The NYPD Monday pressed their search for a couple who dropped a 3-year-old boy at a Brooklyn hospital and then fled in a car with Pennsylvania plates as the child was declared dead, police sources said.

The plates did not match the car, a four-door white sedan, sources said. The two people being sought, a 24-year-old woman believed to be the boy’s mother and a 38-year-old man believed to be her boyfriend, have still not been found. It wasn’t immediately clear if the boyfriend is the child’s father.

The victim was unconscious and had bruises on his face and body when the couple dropped him at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in East Flatbush Saturday. He was declared dead at 10:41 a.m., shortly after he was dropped off.

Doctors told cops the boy showed signs of rigor mortis and lividity, which is bluish-purple discoloration of skin after death, suggesting he may have been dead for some time .

The mother brought the boy into the hospital and was soon joined by her boyfriend. The couple did not hang around or explain what happened, fleeing in the car.

An autopsy will determine the boy’s cause of death.
