AUSTIN, Texas — A Travis County jury has convicted a 23-year-old of murder in connection with a 2023 shooting in Austin.
On Sept. 26, 2023, Austin police located 40-year-old Keith Bedford with multiple gunshot wounds in the 2300 block of Greenfield Parkway. Bedford was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police conducted a homicide investigation and identified then-24-year-old Dekatur Dalon Richey, a.k.a. “DK,” and then-22-year-old Moses Wangobe Mohinga, a.k.a. “Big Youngster,” as suspects. Warrants were issued for both of their arrests.
Mohinga was arrested on Oct. 27, 2023. On Nov. 15, 2023, Richey was arrested after a 3-hour standoff with police.
Mohinga was indicted for murder on Dec. 27, 2023.
Jury selection for Mohinga’s trial began on March 3, 2025, and testimony began on March 4. On March 6, the jury deliberated, found Mohinga guilty of murder and sentenced him to 65 years in prison.
As for Richey, public records show he has a pre-trial hearing scheduled for March 13.
