SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (Gray News) – A tornado passed by a television news station in Florida as meteorologists were tracking the storm.
The confirmed EF2 tornado touched down in Seminole County, Florida, Monday morning.
FOX 35 Orlando meteorologist Brooks Garner was tracking a tornado warning when the tornado crossed over the news station during the live broadcast.
The television news station shared a video of the broadcast on Facebook.
“Get to your safe space under your desk if you’re not in a designated area … This is a tornado! Seek shelter immediately. Get under your desks, guys. Anchors, under the desks. Everybody, get under the desks,” Garner said.
At least one home was destroyed as the tornado went through the area, but thankfully, no one was hurt.
“We had to work our way around a downed tree in the roadway to gain access to the house. The house was collapsed on all sides with the exception of one corner of the house in the front, which is where the residents happen to be occupied,” Tod Zellers with the Seminole County Fire Department said.
A tractor-trailer was also overturned, but the driver and his dachshund are both OK.
The driver said he was resting in the back of the truck when the storm moved in and flipped the truck.
