ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — Odessa man Daniel Schwarz, 48, has pled guilty on manslaughter charges in relation to his eight-year-old adopted daughter’s death, according to a Facebook post from the Ector County District Attorney’s office on Thursday.
The post said this case dates all the way back to Aug. 29, 2020, when law enforcement responded to the Schwarz residence for a medical emergency involving the eight-year-old.
According to the post, both Daniel Schwarz and his wife Ashley, “forced their daughter to jump on a trampoline without food or water as a form of punishment.” At time of the punishment the temperature of the trampoline’s surface was 110 degrees.
The District Attorney’s office said Ashley Schwarz was previously charged with capital murder on May 1, 2023, and was sentenced to life without parole.
Daniel Schwarz was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
