
PRINCETON, W.Va. – A Princeton woman was shot to death early Saturday morning during a reported break-in at a Rocky Branch Road residence.
Lt. Steven A. Sommers with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department said deputies responded to a suspicious person’s complaint late Friday night when two individuals with flashlights were seen walking onto a neighbor’s property and then turning the flashlights off.
A short time later on March 8 deputies were notified by Mercer County 911 that an elderly man had called from the same area, stating that he had shot someone who had broken into his home.
The shooting resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman from Princeton. She has not yet been identified.
Dep. M.C. Altice and Detective J.M. Pinter are the lead investigators. No arrests have been made in the incident.
