When your phone decides to finally give up the ghost, it can be a daunting task to pick your next device. Do you stick with the same brand or try something new? Do you splurge on the latest model or find a quality older version for a bargain price?

If these questions are whizzing around your head, we would like to gently throw another hat into the ring. Amazon has recently knocked the price of the Google Pixel 8a with 256GB of storage down from £559 to a much more affordable £409.

One of the best features of the Google Pixel 8a is the camera. The phone is equipped with a dual rear camera system that includes a wide lens as well as a ultrawide lens. If this wasn’t good enough, the camera also has a super resolution zoom which has the power to get you up to eight times closer.

On top of this, the Google Pixel 8a also uses AI to create perfect group photos and fix blurry images. Don’t want a random object in your photo? Simply cut it out with the Magic Eraser. Somebody blinked or is looking away? Pixel’s Best Take will combine similar photos to make one everyone is looking their best in.

Other uses of Google AI in the Pixel 8a include circling to search. This means you simply draw a circle around an image, text or video and Google AI will find it fast. Additionally, audio will also be made clearer when on a call as the Pixel reduces background noise and enhances voices.

On Amazon, the fantastic Google Pixel 8a phone has a rating of 4.3 stars and many people are recommending that others should make the switch when their next contract finishes up.

One happy customer wrote: “I’ve had this Google Pixel 8a mobile phone for a couple of weeks and I am impressed, it’s was very easy to transfer photos etc over from my Samsung phone to this phone.

“Having a Google account helps too. I really like the phone’s camera, it’s better than my Samsung A21s phone which has a good camera, but this is sharper and can take photos in a dull light much better.”

Another person upgraded their phone and was delighted with the results: “Upgrading from a Pixel 4a. The 8a has a clear screen and feels zippy to use. Battery lasting all day too. The phone is a nice size also. Camera takes really nice shots and the AI options work well. Highly recommended.”

While a third person added: “Amazing affordable, pixel phone, what more can you ask for? Battery lasts all day, system is fast and snappy with great cameras to meet the needs of most people. Packed full of AI features. So if you are thinking of buying it then just go for it.”

However, not everyone was singing their praises, as one person wrote: “Super fast phone , clear screen, quality sound and excellent camera. But- I have to carry a battery bank wherever I go. The Pixel8a just discharges it’s battery in front of your eyes. In the morning 100 percent, by lunchtime 39 percent if you are lucky.”

Another customer also added: “Had I known there were issues with listening to music with headphones, I would not have bought it. Infuriatingly stops playing (while walking dog) and will keep cutting out, even though it shows as playing.

“I’ve tried several music apps with the same result. I’ve Googled looking for an answer and no matter what I do, like most others, nothing fixes it.”
