AUSTIN, Texas — Investigators shared new details into the highly publicized murder of an InfoWars reporter in Austin.
Police said Jamie White was found lying in the parking lot of the Chandelier Apartments on Douglas Street following reports of a shooting late Sunday night.
White was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead early Monday morning.
While police declined to address rumors that White was targeted in the shooting, investigators said whoever was responsible for killing White has “no regard for human life” and could be responsible for several car break-ins.
“We’re independent finders of fact,” Det. Jason Jones said. “We’ll follow the leads that develop in this case … and that’s where we’ll end up.”
What happened to Jamie White?
According to police, White “interrupted” an individual or group of individuals who were breaking into his car.
Police said during their investigation, they found the window of White’s vehicle was broken and what appeared to be blood from a cut inside White’s car.
The car used in the break-in was also reported to be stolen a few days before White was killed. Police said the stolen vehicle has since been recovered in South Austin.
According to police, the group responsible for White’s death may have been targeting Kia vehicles due to the defect that makes them prone to theft. While Kia has released a fix for the defect, it’s unclear if White’s vehicle had his defect fixed since his vehicle was involved in another break-in a few months ago.
Police did not have a description of any possible suspects in White’s murder. Since whoever was responsible remains on the run, police are asking the public to stay vigilant if they see a car being broken into.
Alex Jones, InfoWars respond to White’s death
On Monday, InfoWars said it was “deeply saddened” to inform its audience that White had been “brutally murdered” in Austin.
The post included a statement from Infowars’ founder, conspiracy theorist and Austin resident Alex Jones:
“We are deeply saddened to inform you that InfoWars Reporter Jamie White was brutally murdered around midnight Sunday night due, in part, to the policies of the Soros Austin, TX D.A. Jose Garza.
We pledge that Jamie’s tragic death will not be in vain, and those responsible for this senseless violence will be brought to justice.
Jamie’s important work will be carried on through InfoWars, our readers, and our cherished listeners.”
