CHARLESTON, W.Va (WDTV) – A bill that would require ‘In God We Trust’ to be displayed in public schools in West Virginia passed through the senate Wednesday.

Senate Bill 280, which is sponsored by Senators Azinger, Taylor, Thorne, Rose, Hart, Bartlett, Deeds and Martin, would require ‘In God We Trust,’ which is the national motto, to be displayed in public elementary and secondary schools and in institutions of higher education.

The bill says that the poster or framed copy of the national motto shall contain a representation of the United States flag centered under the national motto and may not depict any other words, images, or other information.

Now, the bill is heading to the House of Delegates for approval.
