BOSCAWEN, N.H. (Gray News) – A 12-year-old boy is in the hospital after a tree fell on him while he was walking home from school Friday.

According to the Boscawen Police Department, Kyle Murray was walking home from his school bus stop after school when the wind knocked down a spruce tree. The tree fell directly on top of him.
Kyle was taken to a local hospital but then transported to Boston Children’s Hospital in critical condition where he was placed in a medically-induced coma.

According to Hannah Littlefield, who organized a GoFundMe for Kyle and his family, he was diagnosed with two small brain bleeds, brain swelling, a spleen laceration, multiple fractured ribs, a broken pelvis, severed arteries in his pelvis, bleeding in his bladder, a broken ankle and fluid in his abdomen.
Kyle’s mother Danielle Murray said Kyle had pelvic surgery on Monday, and on Tuesday, his breathing tube was removed.
“He opened up his arms and reached out for me to give him a hug and a kiss just a minute ago. I can’t describe how good that feels!” she said.
Murray said she is “so thankful for every milestone and improvement” that Kyle is making.
