A 31-year-old man was shot in the head outside a fruit stand in the Bronx Friday afternoon, police said.

Officers responding to a 911 call around 2:30 p.m. found the victim with a gunshot wound to the head in front of Richard Fruit & Vegetable at the intersection of Brook Ave. and E. 148th St. in Mott Haven, cops said.

“There were two people arguing by the red car,” a witness who declined to give his name said. “One of them pulled a pistol. It was three shots. He shot him in the head.”

The witness said the victim went down and looked like he was dead.

The wounded man was transported by EMS to Lincoln Hospital and was reported to be in critical condition.

The motive for the shooting wasn’t immediately clear.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
