BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – WVVA and the Mercer County Salvation Army are continuing to take donations for flood recovery efforts in the Two Virginias.
So far more than $28,000 has been raised to help those affected by last month’s flooding. A large chunk of money donated was gathered thanks to community members who donated as guests performed during WVVA’s telethon on March 8.
Donations are still needed and are being accepted. All money gathered from donations is being used to provide meals as well as help people with financial needs as they recover.
“By about three weeks into the situation everything dies down. People start to get back into their routine and then the folks are left with no more resources. It’s critical that we do things like we’re doing now to continue the work and progress of healing our area’s damage,” said Sergeant Melissa White with The Salvation Army of Mercer County
