Believe it ‘Ted Lasso’ fans, the hit show is coming back.

WASHINGTON — Turns out we haven’t seen the last of “Ted Lasso” after all.

Jason Sudeikis, the star and co-creator of the hit Apple TV+ series confirmed on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce that a fourth season is officially in the works.

“We’re writing season 4 now,” Sudeikis revealed on Friday’s episode. “That’s the official word, yeah, Ted’s coaching a women’s team, so there.”

Shortly after New Heights teased the announcement, Apple TV+ officially confirmed there will be a fourth season.

The streamer did not say when the new episodes would become available or where they are in the production process. In a statement, Sudeikis, the show’s star and an executive producer, hinted the new episodes would be about taking chances.

“In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”

When Travis Kelce tried to get a few more details on their podcast and asked whether Lasso is coming back to the U.S., or perhaps coaching across the pond again in England, Sudeikis joked that “yeah, that’s too many questions.”

The Emmy-winning Apple TV+ series, about an American coaching a soccer team in London, had long been described as a three-season series — but Sudeikis had been noncommittal when the season 3 finale aired in May 2023 about what could come next.

How did “Ted Lasso” season 3 end?

((SPOILER ALERTS AHEAD))

Season 3 of “Ted Lasso” ended with Ted deciding to leave AFC Richmond and England to return home to be with his son, Henry. In his place, Roy Kent becomes AFC Richmond’s new coach and Coach Beard (played by Brendan Hunt) decides to stay in England because he’s in love.

As the episode wraps up, Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) presents AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) with a proposal for an AFC Richmond women’s team. Could this be the women’s team Lasso is tasked with coaching in season 4?

Hours before the premiere of the season 3 finale, the official Ted Lasso Twitter (now X) account referred to it as their “final match.”

That account has been mostly dark since October 2023…until Friday morning when the season 4 news broke: “Finally found the dang password to this thing.  Sorry y’all. What’d I miss?”
