TAMPA, Fla. (Gray News) – A 25-year-old was killed Thursday in Florida while trying to help a dog she spotted on the highway, according to a spokesperson for Florida Highway Patrol.
The woman got out of her car around 10:25 p.m. to render aid to the dog on Dale Mabry Highway.
As she approached the dog, a 69-year-old man from Tampa driving a Toyota RAV4 hit both the woman and the dog, FHP said.
They both died at the scene of the crash.
Authorities did not clarify if charges have been filed against the driver that hit them.
