HOUSTON — The band Journey’s performance at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was cut short by an electrical issue Friday night.
It happened during the band’s hit song, “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Audio cut out during the song and the giant monitors went black.
After the audio stopped, the crowd continued singing the lyrics until it was clear that the singalong wasn’t part of the show. People in attendance at the concert saw stage hands rush to the stage with fire extinguishers.
After a delay that lasted several minutes — one in which the band could be seen leaving the stage — an announcement was made over the loudspeaker at NRG Stadium that the show was canceled. Later, RodeoHouston said a decision on how to make it up to fans would be posted on their social media.

RodeoHouston did post on Saturday that the Warren Zeiders concert would go on as planned on the rotating stage.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo issued a statement, saying:
“Due to an unforeseen electrical incident under the stage area, we regretfully announce the cancellation of tonight’s Journey concert. We sincerely apologize to all fans for this disappointment. Our team is working diligently to assess the situation, and we will provide updates regarding rescheduling options and or refunds as soon as possible.”
At this point, we don’t know what caused the fire. As soon as we know more, we’ll post it here.
