If there is one high street retailer that we can count on to stay up to date with fashion trends, it’s Next.
The high street retailer has gotten involved with the buttermilk yellow craze by unveiling its Satin Midi Skirt in the sunny shade for £32. With the soft shade being the ‘it’ colour for spring and summer, we expect this to sell fast.
Boasting a regular waist and falling to a trendy midi-length hemline, this elegant skirt will come in handy for a variety of functions. Crafted from an “ultra smooth” satin material, it’s not only comfy, as shoppers say that it “does not crease.”

It’s also said to be “ideal for any season”, with Next saying the “versatile” design can be dressed up or down. For holiday weather, pair it with an open-knit vest top and a pair of sandals, while carrying it through to the colder months with a pair of boots and a jumper.
To confirm the sunny shade was officially in for this season, the retailer revealed its new skirt would be stocked amidst a whole host of other fashion must-haves. In an Instagram post, they wrote: “Strictly sunny vibes only: yellow is set to take over this spring.”
While the buttermilk yellow colour is new and trendy for spring and summer, it’s worth knowing that Next’s Satin Midi Skirt is also available in four other colourways – pink, navy blue, black, and chocolate brown.
When we last checked online, a few of the colourways were designed in both regular and petite, with a few tall lengths also on offer. Sizes do range from a six through to 20, though we’d advise bagging one before they sell out.
With the “trending” colour being new for this season, it doesn’t have any reviews as of writing. However, shoppers who have purchased other colourways have left glowing reviews for its “classy” and “elegant” design.
One particularly happy shopper wrote: “I have this skirt in three colours, it can be dressed up or down. Lots of people comment how lovely it looks on.”
A second enthusiastic shopper added: “Lovely classy skirt. Did not crease when worn and perfect for a night out. Can be dressed up with a sparkly top and heels or down with a jumper. I’m a size 10/12 and purchased the 10. It was fairly long on me, I’m 5ft 5 but not too long. Would highly recommend.”
Another Next shopper enthused: “Very elegant and perfect fit. Wear with anything and occasion.”
However, one shopper who was less than impressed with the overall design of the skirt wrote in a negative review: “I returned the item. Thought the whole shape of it was poor.”
