WELLINGBOROUGH, England (Gray News) – A 13-year-old in England was charged with the murder of her mother, according to British authorities.
The Northamptonshire Police Department said the child is also charged with arson with intent to endanger life.
Police said the girl was arrested last Monday after a body was discovered in a house on Newcomen Road just after 3 a.m.
Officials said the identity of the body is still awaiting confirmation, but is believed to be a 43-year-old woman.
A post-mortem examination concluded that the cause of death was an injury caused by a sharp force.
Police and firefighters were dispatched to the location after reports came in of a fire at the property.
Inside, police found the woman’s body and pronounced her dead at the scene at 3:29 a.m.
