Finding a good single malt at a decent price can sometimes feel like stumbling across a goldmine.

There’s no denying that, as nice as the drink is, it can often come with a hefty price-tag, especially if it’s from a popular distillery. Fortunately, Amazon can be a good place to search out any discounts you won’t often find anywhere else.

One currently enjoying an impressive 31 percent discount is the Glenlivet Double Oak 12 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Whisky. A 70cl of this “creamy” and “exceptional” single malt is now just £29.98 after being dropped from its RRP of £43.50.

With its bright, vibrant gold colour and sweet, fruity taste, this single malt has earned its place a “staple” for many whisky connoisseurs. It’s also the winner of a few awards such as the coveted Gold award in the 2021 International Wine and Spirit Competition.

This single malt is said to boast a “summery flavour” that boasts strong pineapple notes. It has been matured in traditional oak, before spending time in American oak casks, imparting notes of vanilla for that “distinctive smoothness.”

Meanwhile, the mineral-rich water taken from Josie’s Well, the water source for Scotland’s Glenlivet distillery, helps the complex flavours to form. Its “delicate yet complex character” is then further created by the specific height and width of the copper stills is spends time in.

Awarded an impressive 4.7 rating based on 1,970 Amazon reviews, Glenlivet’s Double Oak Speyside Single Malt has become a fan favourite for its “smooth” and “rich” flavour” that has won over old and new whisky fans alike.

One five-star review read: “The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Double Oak) is a true masterpiece. Its captivating aroma, rich flavour, and smooth finish make it a top-tier choice for whisky enthusiasts. Perfect for special occasions or as a thoughtful gift. Cheers to an exceptional spirit!”

A second whisky fan said: “This is the whisky that began my affection for single malt whisky, especially Speyside distilleries. The Glenlivet 12 is lusciously smooth and creamy vanilla notes, rich toffee, sweet fruits and spice and a long finish that is deliciously satisfying.

“It’s a firm staple in my drinks cupboard and I highly recommend for anyone looking for great value, sophisticated single malt that offers great flavour and thoroughly enjoyable!”

Someone else wrote: “As a relatively new whisky drinker, this was one of the first single malts I tried and allowed me to fall in love with whisky. This is a tried and trusted whisky for any new or long time drinkers who want to enjoy a subtle fruity taste and a smooth finish.”

While another review read: “I’m not a whisky drinker, however, I fancied a tipple and this caught my eye – not overly expensive, a single malt, and not one of those peaty Islay types. I have to say that after having had my first taste of this, I may well become a Whisky drinker! (In moderation of course!).

“It’s quite a sweet drink but with plenty of warmth and absolutely loads of flavours going off.”

Not everyone was keen on the taste, as one disappointed customer wrote: “It’s doesn’t have a flavour that stands out. Very average whiskey.”
