PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. (WANF/Gray News) – A gas station was destroyed as severe weather rolled through Georgia over the weekend.
A Texaco gas station in Paulding County, Georgia, was destroyed when an EF1 tornado ripped the awning out of its concrete beam. It flipped over on a convenience store.
“The canopy was literally uprooted and was sitting on top of the store,” Paulding County Sheriff Ashley Henson said.
The owner said a friend called him to tell him that his gas station was on the news Sunday morning.
The storm that went through Georgia was part of severe weather that moved across the midwest and south causing tornadoes, thunderstorms, strong winds and wildfires that killed at least 39 people.
