When completed, the rotunda area will once again be the main entrance.

AUSTIN, Texas — Barton Springs Pool is back open, just in time for spring break. The pool had been closed for two weeks for maintenance and got cleaned while it was closed.

Deandre Cain manages the pool.

“It is clear, it’s beautiful,” he said. “You see this whitish area – this is where they took underwater buffers and it was covered in algae. Those buffers kick it all up and push out the end in a drain.”

Lilly Bryant, who visited Barton Springs on Tuesday from California, is enjoying her time during spring break.

“I like that its natural spring water, it’s open to so many people,” she said. “It’s fun to see.”

Crews used firehoses in the deeper end of the pool to pick up debris.

Crews continue to work on a project to renovated the Barton Springs bathhouse. It started last February, and crews are hoping to have it done by the summer.

“I am thrilled that we are returning it back to the original state where the rotunda area will be our main entrance,” said Cain. “I have been coming here since I was small child and don’t remember the rotunda being the entrance, so for me to learn the history about it.”

The project will also replace plumbing and drainage systems and make structural repairs.

The city is now charging for parking and there is an entrance fee to get in the pool.
