In the wake of Victoria Goodwin’s arrest for allegedly attempting to hire a hitman to murder her husband Aaron Goodwin, the host of reality series “Ghost Adventures,” a newly obtained police report has shed more light on the text messages she exchanged with a convicted killer.
According to authorities, Goodwin, 32, plotted to have her husband killed with the help of Grant Amato, a Florida man who’s serving a life sentence for the 2019 murders of his father, mother and brother at their suburban Orlando home.
Goodwin allegedly began communicating with Amato in March of last year after seeing him in the Paramount+ series “Ctrl+Alt+Desire.” The true-crime docuseries dove into the case against Amato, who was accused of stealing more than $200,000 from his family and spending the money on a webcam model prior to the grisly murders.
In text messages detailed in an arrest report obtained by People, Goodwin and Amato allegedly talked about “how much they are in love,” while Goodwin said her husband “would not accept divorce.”
In another exchange, she asked Amato if she’s a “bad person” because she “chose to end [her husband’s] existence” instead of proceeding with a divorce.
Their messages also allegedly included specific details for her husband’s murder, including “payment plans, location, anticipation, and nothing done to stop the plan once in motion,” per the arrest report.
The texts were discovered after corrections officers confiscated Amato’s contraband cellphone and sent to the Florida Department of Corrections. The alleged murder plot was never carried out.
Goodwin was arrested on March 6 and charged with solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit murder. According to police, she admitted to texting with Amato, saying she reached out to him because she was “lonely” and was having problems in her marriage. However, she denied plotting to kill her husband and said she couldn’t remember sending any messages about hiring a hitman.
Goodwin has been held on $100,000 bail and her next hearing is set for March 25. It’s unclear if Amato will also be charged.
Aaron Goodwin meanwhile has filed for divorce and is seeking court-ordered protection against his wife.
