
CHARELSTON, W.Va. – Lawmakers in the House of Delegates are looking to appropriate money from the Revenue Shortfall Fund and the Income Tax Reserve Fund to create a West Virginia Flood Resiliency Trust Fund.
House Bill 3502 would allocate $250 million in state funds “to address this statewide reoccurring emergency [flooding] by funding preventive actions to reduce the impacts of these emergencies.”
The bill asks for a one-time allocation of $100 million from the Revenue Shortfall Fund and $150 million from the Income Tax Reserve Fund.
The bill is sponsored by Delegates Hornbuckle (D-Cabell), Williams (I-Monongalia), Young (D-Kanawha), Hamilton (D-Monongalia), Garcia (I-Marion), Lewis (D-Kanawha), Bridges (R-Logan), and Fluharty (I-Ohio).
