Green-fingered homeowners looking to brighten up their gardens this spring may be interested in a “really beautiful” blue-coloured shrub.

Colourful plants and flowers are the perfect way to transform your green space, and ceanothus thyrsiflorus, also known as the blue blossom shrub, promises to do just that.

The plant grows stunning purple flowers during the spring months. It will blossom when in the sun and copes well with heat, making it the perfect summer grow.

The versatile plant comes in either a climbing plant, a compact shrub, or as a ground cover and can be bought on Yimbly from a gardening brand called Plant in a Box. It’s currently on offer for £35.95 for one or two for £49.95.

Shipping on your first order from Yimbly, an online marketplace Yimbly owned by Reach Plc, is free. So if you’re a new shopper, you don’t have to worry about paying for delivery.

The Blue Blossom does, however, need watered regularly. Upon delivery, the plant has a height of 60-70cm, including the nursery pot, which has a diameter of 17cm, reports the Express.

The leaves are shiny and remain green throughout the winter, so even if the plant does not flower, it has ornamental value in the garden. It is important to cover the plant in cases of severe night frost.

The Plant in a Box blue blossom doesn’t have any reviews on Yimbly. However, the brand also has an online marketplace on Amazon, where you can find a number of reviews for it

One Amazon shopper said: “The plant came well packed and it was quickly delivered. It’s a beautiful green plant and the size is satisfactory. I highly recommend this seller.”

Another added: “The plant is really beautiful. They are efficient and extremely responsive seller. The only downside is that you have to wait until the next day. But if you put that aside, that’s great.”

A fourth wrote: “Very beautiful plant. To be planted in a mixture of soil and heather soil.” A fifth commented: “Frankly, I am thrilled. Nickel packaging and very beautiful foot.”

One Amazon buyer wasn’t as pleased, however, writing: “For the garden, it arrived damaged and very small. Does not match the description at all.”

Alternatively, Yimbly also has a Hayloft primula belarina mix (£30 for 15) that will brighten up any garden or indoor space. Known for their vibrant, multi-coloured blooms, these flowers are perfect for creating a stunning display in early spring.

YouGarden also has a wide selection of outdoor plants, including this beautiful Hardy Ceanothus Standard Californian Lilac Tree (£29.99). Described as a lollipop tree, it produces clouds of lovely sky-blue flowers in clusters for several weeks in spring.

Elsewhere, Wowcher is selling a pack of three Fargesia Umbrella Bamboo Plants for £24.99, worth £74.91. The plants make a great choice if you are looking to create a screen in your garden or even if you wish to plant individually in a patio planter.
