Book lovers will be ecstatic to know Amazon’s cheapest kindle is retailing for under £100, which is unlike any of the other models available. This means avid readers can escape into a book and carry around their library without breaking the bank.

The new basic Amazon Kindle is retailing for £94.99, which is £65 cheaper than the next model up – the Kindle Paperwhite (RRP £159.99). On top of being the cheapest model, this basic kindle is also the lightest and most compact Kindle to date.

You can also reduce this price even further by trading in your old Kindle. Amazon is advertising a 20 per cent saving, meaning you can snatch up this e-reader for only £75.99.

While flicking through a physical book can be relaxing, it is not the easiest to carry around while you travel. However, with the Kindle you can bring your whole library with you while on this move, in a sleek and lightweight design.

You will be able to enhance your reading experience with this Kindle as you will be able to comfortably read from the six-inch glare-free screen that also boasts an adjustable front light, which is 25 per cent brighter at its max setting. Alternatively, you can lessen your eye strain with dark mode.

With the ability to turn pages faster than older models, the under £100 Kindle will provide you with up to six weeks of battery life on a single charge and 16GB of storage so you can keep your favourite and newest reads with you at all times.

This much loved reading device comes in either black or in a stunning match green colour. You also have the option of purchasing the Kindle with three months of Kindle Unlimited for free. This means you can access millions of eBooks for no additional price. However, after three months, the subscription will auto-renew for £9.49 per month.

Over 4,000 people have bought this Kindle in the last month, and happy readers have awarded the device a 4.5 star rating. One satisfied shopper said: “I upgraded from a 4th generation kindle (2011/2012). The difference in quality between the two kindles is out of this world!

“This kindle is so much more user friendly, light weight, fits nicely in the hand so perfect for curling up with a good book! The colour is very cute! Highly recommended.”

Another five-star reviewer added: “Absolutely love it! I brought this cutie so I can take it to work and out and about as my kindle signature doesn’t fit comfortably in my little bag. I can safely say the basic is the first thing I pick up. My poor signature hasn’t been picked up since this one arrived.”

While a third expressed: “Astonishingly good product, a joy to use. Reading is super easy on the eyes, it’s small and lightweight (but, critically, big enough to make reading comfortable). You can carry thousands of books with you and not even notice. It’s the iPad of books. I just love it.”

However, not everyone was as pleased with the device, as one disgruntled shopper wrote: “The screen always has the picture on, so you feel like it’s burning battery. Battery life goes down when you aren’t using it so I doubt any of us will get six weeks…. Not that I’ve had mine that long.

“Speed… Yeah it doesn’t have that and worst of all it’s not user friendly. As someone who needs glasses but can’t always wear them, the home screen is too small and you can’t make bigger. The home carousel section doesn’t seem to have any way of deleting items unless you are removing them completely from the device.”

However, if you want a Kindle that has a faster performance and a bigger screen, you can get the Kindle Paperwhite for £159.99. Alternatively, you can get the Kobo Clara Black and White 16GB Wi-Fi E-Reader from Argos for £129.99 – which is the cheapest price for this brand.
