As electric vehicles become increasingly popular, a significant infrastructural investment by Arnold Clark is set to have a huge positive impact on UK drivers.
Aiming to make it cheaper* and easier for drivers to charge on the go, Arnold Clark – one of the largest car dealers in the UK – has opened four bookable electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs across Dundee and its surrounding areas.
The new hubs are part of a £30 million investment across the UK as the group launches its own bookable ultra-rapid charging network, Arnold Clark Charge.
More than 500 EV chargers capable of charging up to 150kW will be installed at more than 100 locations across the UK, with 24 of those across Mercedes-Benz of Dundee, Arnold Clark Dundee Vauxhall/Fiat/Abarth, Arnold Clark Kirkcaldy Kia, and Arnold Clark Glenrothes.
Using the handy Arnold Clark app, EV drivers can book a charging slot in advance to eliminate waiting for a charger, as well as enjoy ultra-rapid, great-value charging rates of 55p/kWh, compared to 80p/kWh on other rapid or ultra-rapid networks*.
How does Arnold Clark Charge work?

To begin charging more easily and conveniently, all customers need to do is download the Arnold Clark app, create an account, and then sign up to Arnold Clark Charge.
They can then safely and securely book a charge at a time or place that suits them, with most sites being 24/7 accessible.
And when it comes to charging time, they simply start their slot through the app, plug in and charge.
Investing in the UK’s EV charging infrastructure
With the 2035 ban on new petrol and diesel vehicles drawing ever closer, the Arnold Clark Charge investment marks another important step for the group as it looks to prepare customers for the upcoming shift to electric.
Eddie Hawthorne, chief executive and group managing director of Arnold Clark, said: “As electric vehicles become more and more common on UK roads, we know that our charging infrastructure needs to develop and grow to meet these increasing demands.
“That’s why we’ve heavily invested in our very own bookable ultra-rapid charging network across the country: Arnold Clark Charge.
“The new charging hubs will allow customers to charge easily and safely while on the go, while saving money.”
