(InvestigateTV) — Crochet is a form of fiber art that uses one hook in yarn to make interlocking stitches.
Unlike knitting or weaving, crochet cannot be replicated by a machine. Experts say this is because, in the majority of crochet cases, you can’t move on to the next stitch without closing the current one.
So if you see a so-called crochet sweater in a department store, it’s technically not crochet because it most likely wasn’t made by hand.
In Louisiana, one group is making sure this centuries-old craft thrives in their community.
