How many times a week do you have to do a stressful pat down to make sure you haven’t lost your house keys? Or how often has one of your family members anxiously mumbled that they have lost another set of keys?
If this is something that is a common occurrence in your household, then we may have the tech solution for you. While smart doorbells have been becoming more popular in recent years, another security tech system has hit the shelves – a smart lock
Amazon has recently reduced the price of the Nuki Smart Lock down from £169 to only £89. With this 47 per cent price slash, you will be able to get an electronic door lock that turns your smartphone into a key for nearly half the normal price.

If you want to make your house smarter and safer at the same time, then the Nuki Smart Lock may be for you. After retrofitting the device to your door, which takes less than three minutes to fit above your existing lock, you can turn your smartphone into your door key.
While being able to automatically open your door, as well as track your activity log, you can also assign up to 200 individual access permissions with the Nuki Smart Lock app. This means you can limit access between certain times for certain individuals like workmen or the dog sitter, or have access open indefinitely for loved ones with the app.
You also won’t need to be concerned about the door being left open, as with the Lock’n’Go feature, the Nuki device will automatically lock the door behind you when you leave the house. Additionally, you won’t need to worry about damage, as the lock doesn’t require any drilling or screwing on and won’t leave any residue once removed.

Another smart lock available on Amazon is the SwitchBot WiFi Smart Lock Pro with Touchscreen Keypad. This is a bit more expensive at £239.99, but with a £60 voucher currently available, you can buy it for £179.99. Alternatively, you can get the YALE Keyless Connected Smart Door Lock for £99.99 from Currys.
If it’s the Nuki Smart Lock you’ve got your eyes on, then you’re not alone. It boasts a 4.2 rating on Amazon, where it has had around 900 five-star reviews.
One satisfied shopper wrote: “Perfect device, very useful after losing so many keys passed between children. The automatic opening without even touching the cell phone with hands occupied by suitcases and shopping bags is priceless.”

As well as getting shoppers access Spring Deal Days deals that are exclusive to Prime members, there’s a host of advantages to Amazon Prime membership including next day delivery, free Deliveroo, music and books and Prime Video. AmazonAnother smart lock lover wrote: “After a year of use, I couldn’t be happier. The installation was very simple, although I had to change the cylinder because in mine the key stuck out too much and had to be cut.
“It always detects me, sometimes instantly as soon as the elevator is opened, other times after a few seconds. But it never fails. The batteries last six months. With the Apple Watch it also opens without problems.”
While a third went into great detail, writing: “As a private user I wanted to make their home smarter. After a few weeks of use, I can say: It was the perfect decision. This smart door lock has made my everyday life much easier and at the same time gives me a reassuring feeling of security.

“It is ideal for anyone who wants to save themselves the key stress and make their home smarter. Easy to install, easy to use and full of sophisticated features — for me, a clear recommendation for anyone who wants to modernize their home.”
Despite these glowing reviews, not everyone was as enthusiastic about the new house lock, as one person wrote: “Just installed the lock as per instructions. The locks just called off the mounting frame easily. To the point that when the door is closed from outside, it fell off on the inside making it rather useless. Poor quality.”
Another shopper added: “The lock works well, but it only lasted a few days on my PVC front door. The sticker does not hold at all, and it is impossible to screw into hollow PVC. In short, I strongly advise against it if you have a plastic door.”
