WASHINGTON — Arsell Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of approximately 2,300 bottles of Benadryl Liquid Elixir, sold in 100 mL bottles, due to a potential risk of child poisoning. Impacted products were sold between July 2023 and October 2024 on Amazon.
The recall stems from a violation of the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, which requires child-resistant packaging for products containing diphenhydramine, the active ingredient in Benadryl.
The packaging of the recalled bottles does not meet this safety standard, presenting a risk if young children ingest the medicine.
Recalled products come in a round, dark plastic bottle with a pink and white label that says “Benadryl” in blue text, with safety disclosures and storage instructions on the back. The product was sold in a paper box with a similar design and includes a white label on the bottom with the code “X003VRIGUL.”
There have been no reported incidents or injuries associated with the product, but consumers are urged to immediately remove the product from reach of children.
Arsell is offering full refunds for the recalled bottles. Customers can contact the company by email at [email protected] and will need to provide their Amazon order number and a photo showing the product’s disposal.
Benadryl Liquid Elixir was sold online for between $16 and $19. The product was manufactured in Canada and imported by Arsell Inc. of Brooklyn, New York.

The recall comes shortly after Amazon sued the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission for finding it legally responsible for the recalls of hundreds of thousands of products sold on its site.
The independent federal agency ordered Amazon in January to take several actions, including notifying customers who bought more than 400,000 items covered by recalls and giving refunds to those who could prove the products were properly disposed of or destroyed.
