A crazed commuter pushed a straphanger into a turnstile at a Manhattan subway station because he wouldn’t swipe his own MetroCard to let the cheater get a free ride, police said Wednesday.

The buttoned-up bully approached the 55-year-old victim outside the turnstiles on the Eighth Ave. line at 23rd St in Chelsea around 11 p.m. Monday and asked for a swipe, cops said.

When the victim refused, the aggressor shoved him to the floor of the station — ending with the victim’s head hitting the steel turnstile.

The scorned rider took off topside, leaving the man with a head wound on the floor.

Medics took the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated for his injury.

Police on Wednesday released an image of the attacker in the hope someone may recognize him. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
