A woman shoved a 7-year-old boy and threatened the child and his mother with a knife during a fight over a subway seat on a Queens train, police said Thursday.
Detectives have released surveillance images of the attacker in the hopes someone can identify her.
The boy and his 37-year-old mother were at the 21st St.-Queensbridge subway station in Astoria at about 12:40 p.m. on Feb. 23 and were boarding an arriving northbound F train when a woman in her 40s sporting glasses and a multicolored jacket pushed the child down as the two angled for a subway seat.
The boy fell to the train’s floor but quickly got up, cops said. When the child’s mother confronted the woman, she shoved the boy in the face and pulled a knife on the mother and child, threatening to “cut” them, a police source with knowledge of the case said.
The woman then exited the train and fled aboveground. She was last seen boarding a Q100 bus.
The child suffered bruises to his face in the attack and was treated at the scene.
Detectives on Thursday released images of the shoving suspect as they asked the public for help in identifying her.
Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
