CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO/Gray News) – A car accident victim has a truck driver to thank for saving her life.
Officials say the driver, a 28-year-old woman, was traveling on Interstate 90 West near W. 44th Street around 2 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle and it flipped on its side, trapping her inside.
“The lady was unconscious in the driver’s seat,” Charles Lowe said.
It was a scary situation for Lowe, a truck driver who saw the accident as it happened.
“She swerved to the right and hit the metal beam over there, and then came across and hit the concrete barrier in the middle,” Lowe described.
Still in shock from what he saw, Lowe said he followed his instincts and called 911. He rushed in to help the unconscious woman and pulled her out of the wreckage.
“When I got to her, it looked like she broke her rib and her leg,” said Lowe. “Two other people tried to hold the door while I pulled her out the car was on its side.”
Cleveland EMS said the woman was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
“I hope she’s OK,” said Lowe. “I’m a Southern boy so we’re always raised to help people in need no matter what.”
Cleveland Police say they do have an update on the woman’s condition and do not know why the woman lost control of the car.
